This time of year can be really frustrating for surfers with lots of swell and onshore winds on the west coast and long flat periods on the east coast. If you haven't surfed in awhile and are keen for a wave, don't over think it and just get in the water for the mid to high tide.
A decent size swell this weekend but you can expect some really nice waves for beginner and intermediate surfers if you come out at the right time.

Saturday 11th October
Swell - 2.5m
Wind - 10 - 16knts NW
High Tide - 1.10pm
Low Tide - 6.56am
Looks like there will be a bit of power in the swell so avoid both ends of the tide (dead high and dead low). Expect the mid tide to have some really good rolling white water for beginners and as the tide fills in intermediates will get some opportunities.
Beginners - I'll keep it simple, 8am to midday should be pretty fun for beginners or 2pm - 5pm. Midday - 2pm will be more powerful if you like that style of waves.
Look Out!! Expect there to be strong currents on the low tide so avoid early.
Advanced Beginners - Mid tide should have a few fun, little reforms. 9.30am - 12pm will be the best time.
Look Out!! Avoid the low tide early.
Intermediates - Similar to advanced beginners the mid to high tide will have a reform. 11am to 3pm should be best.
Look Out!! Avoid the low tide early.
Sunday 12th October
Swell - 2.3m - 2.5m
Wind - 12 - 20knts NW
High Tide - 1.56pm
Low Tide - 7.45am
Pretty much the exact same as Saturday with a touch more wind and a tiny bit less swell.
Beginners - 9am to 1pm should be the best. The sand banks have been really good on the mid tide so expect fun beginner waves.
Look Out!! Don't surf on the lower tide.
Advanced Beginners - Mid to high tide will be best. Anytime from 9am - 2pm will be good but the closer to high tide you go the more powerful the waves will be.
Look Out!! Avoid the low tide early.
Intermediates - Similar to advanced beginners the mid to high tide will have a reform. 12pm to 3pm should be best.
Look Out!! Avoid the low tide early.
