Christmas Holiday Surf Report for Muriwai Beach!

With the Christmas holidays here I thought I'd give you a report from this weekend until Boxing Day (26th December).

Just a heads up, we're shut from 3pm on the 24th December and reopen on the 27th December but if you want to rent a board & wetsuit for a few days over that time our rental prices are here.

Beginner and Intermediate Surfers Weekend Surf Report — Muriwai Beach on dusk

Saturday 20th December

Swell - 2m

Wind -15-20knts SW

High Tide 11.07am

Low Tide 5.26pm

Expect messy onshore conditions with the wind dropping off a bit around 11am, For all levels I'd be looking to surf between 11am - 2pm.

Sunday 21st December

Swell - 1.7m

Wind 10-15knts SW

High Tide 11.43am

Low Tide 6.03

A lot less wind than Saturday should make for much better conditions! Beginners will find really fun waves from 8am until 4pm but expect powerful waves right on high tide (11.30am - 12pm).

Advanced beginner and intermediate surfers should be looking to surf around the high tide, 10.30am - 2pm will be best.

Monday 22nd December

Swell 1.3m

Wind 4-8knts W-NW

High Tide 12.18pm

Low Tide 6.41pm

At this stage this is the best day on the forecast with super light winds and a smaller swell. High tide is in the middle of the day so it's hard to go wrong timing wise. If I was to pick 9am - 1pm before the wind gets up looks best but it will still be good until 4pm.

Tuesday 23rd December

Swell 1.2m rising to 2m

Wind 20-37knts NW

High Tide 12.54pm

Low Tide 6.54am

It's a possibility we will be shut on Tuesday with winds reaching almost 40knts (74kmph). The forecast can definitely change so we won't normally make a call until a day or two before.

Wednesday 24th December

Swell 1.3 - 1.5m

Wind 5-15knts SW

High Tide 1.32pm

Low Tide 7.32am

Looks like it will be nice light winds and fun beginner conditions. Expect really fun waves all morning from about 9.30am onwards. Remember we will be shutting at 3pm but if you want to rent a board & wetsuit over the Xmas break we do two day rentals for $90. Long term prices are here.

Thursday 25th December

Swell 1.6 - 1.8m

Wind 2knts SE - 15knts SW

High Tide 2.12pm

Low Tide 8.12am

Merry Christmas! There might be a little offshore Christmas morning and hopefully it stays around for the higher tide. I'd still be looking to come10am onwards as a beginner.

Friday 26th December

Swell 2.2 - 2.8m

Wind 9-12knts W

High Tide 2.56pm

Low Tide 8.55am

A big rising swell on Boxing Day could be a little sketchy, it's a long way away though so check back in closer to the day.
