Weekend Surf Report For Beginner & Intermediate Surfers 2nd, 3rd and 4th January

Happy New Year! Here's a weekend surf report (plus Friday the 2nd) to help you get in the water at the right times over the next few days!

Blokarting
A peak at The Bay

Friday 2nd January

Swell - 0.8 - 1m

Wind - 8 - 10 Westerly

High Tide - 9.47am

Low Tide - 4.08pm

Expect small, bumpy conditions tomorrow. The high tide will be really fun for advanced beginners and intermediates with lots of opportunities to get on some unbroken waves. Beginners will have the most luck on the mid to high tide.

Beginners - I'll keep it simple, First light until about 1pm should be really fun for beginners. The lower tide will likely be tricky but the tides are big so there's a possibility that you'll be able to find a wave.

Look Out!! Expect there to be stronger currents on the low tide so avoid the afternoon if you can.

Advanced Beginners - 8am - 12pm look like they will be fun! Hopefully it stays small enough to see you out the back!

Look Out!! Avoid the lower tide after 2pm.

Intermediates - Similar to advanced beginners the mid to high tide will be best in the morning.

Look Out!! Avoid the low tide.

Saturday 3rd January

Swell  - 1.2m

Wind  - Very light variable winds

High Tide - 10.43am

Low Tide - 5.03pm

Saturday is looking good, with light winds and hopefully offshore windows. There should be nice surf for all levels!

Beginners - 8am until about 2pm look great! Sometimes with the bigger tides the high tide can have powerful waves (that will be between 10.30am - 11am). If you don't like the extra push in the surf come either earlier (8am - 10.30am) or later (11am - 2pm).

Look Out!! Make the effort to come out in the morning as the arvo low tide looks more challenging.

Advanced Beginners - Mid to high tide will be best, anytime from 8am - 2pm will be the go!

Look Out!!

Intermediates - Looking like a really fun day for intermediates, the small swell should mean there's fun surf on all tides. If you can get in there when the wind goes offshore you'll score!

Look Out!! Right on low tide might be a bit steep.

Sunday 4th January

Swell  - 1.2m

Wind  - 7 - 15knts SE

High Tide - 11.33am

Low Tide - 5.53pm

Offshore winds in the morning make Sunday morning look awesome!

Beginners - 8am to 2pm should be the best. The sand banks have been really good on the mid tide so expect fun beginner waves.

Look Out!! Avoid surfing on the lower tide (4.30pm - 7pm).

Advanced Beginners - Expect the morning to have really fun waves 10am - 1pm will be best!

Look Out!! Skip low tide unless you feel comfortable getting out the back.

Intermediates - It's probably small enough for you that the tide doesn’t matter too much, it's all about finding a good bank and having the offshore wind.

Look Out!! Look out for the wind swinging onshore in the arvo.

Surf report is accurate as of 1pm 1/1/26 and is directed at surfers not taking surf lessons with us.
